BPI Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) Certification

Earning the Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) certification is a simple, comprehensive, and affordable way for builders, remodelers, HVAC, insulation, and other contractors to gain the skills needed to offer duct leakage and blower door tests, in compliance with IECC codes for new home construction or existing home remodels.

By earning the IDL certification, you prove that you can conduct duct leakage tests to the ASTM E1554-07 standard and blower door tests to the ASTM E779 standard.

What is the IDL Certification?

The Building Performance Institute (BPI) Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) Certification equips contractors with essential skills for conducting duct leakage and blower door testing. This certification is ideal for builders, remodelers, HVAC specialists, and insulation professionals who need to verify compliance with IECC codes in both new construction and home renovation projects.

IDL certification validates your expertise in performing duct leakage tests (ASTM E1554-07) and blower door tests (ASTM E779) - critical requirements for ensuring energy efficiency in residential construction.
