About this course

The Home Energy Professional (HEP) Quality Control Inspector (QCI) course is a comprehensive training designed to prepare you to conduct in-process and post-work quality assurance inspections, conduct diagnostic and health and safety tests, assess worker professionalism, verify compliance with common Home Performance and Weatherization program requirements, and evaluate client satisfaction.

This course aims to provide you with the skills, knowledge, and training to successfully become a Quality Control Inspector in the DOE National Weatherization Program.

BPI Quality Control Inspector - Certification Course

The Home Energy Professional (HEP) Quality Control Inspector certification is offered by BPI and is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and its National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

By earning the HEP Quality Control Inspector certification, you prove that you can verify the compliance of retrofit work performed based on work plans and standards, conduct audits and inspections using diagnostic equipment, and can develop reports that specify corrective actions to achieve whole house performance.

Introduction to Weatherization for Quality Control Inspectors

In this module, we will discuss the historical perspective of the Weatherization Assistance Program. Additionally, we will explain how building science is in the weatherization process and describe the prices of cost-effective and savings-to-investment ratios.

How does this course work?
This 12 module course is delivered entirely online. This course is self-paced and you can set your own schedule to complete the materials. During your year of access the instructor will be in the course answering questions on the discussion board. After successfully completing the course, you will be able to generate a certificate of completion.
How long do I have access to the materials?
Students can pre-order but will not be able to access the full course materials or earn a certificate of completion until the course is fully published. Once the course is published any students who have pre-ordered will then have access to the course materials for one year (365 days). After the one year of access expires, access can be extended by joining as a HeatSpring member. A single membership extends access to course materials for all past enrollments.
Is there a certificate of completion?
Yes, when you complete this course you are eligible for a certificate of completion from HeatSpring. You can download your certificate as soon as you have completed all of the course requirements.
