About this course

The course prepares you for BPI's Healthy Home Evaluator certification.

People spend well over 90% of their lives indoors, yet the air can be up to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Many everyday items could make you and your family sick. Take the Healthy Housing Principles course. This certificate of knowledge course helps the attendees identify home hazards. It gives them the knowledge necessary to recommend and use the proper ways to mitigate those hazards. Attendees of this course will receive a copy of the latest edition of the Healthy Home Principles Reference Guide and one exam code for the Healthy Housing Principles Course.

The Healthy Home Evaluator (HHE) certification builds on the BPI Building Analyst (BA), Building Analyst Professional (BA-P), Multifamily Building Analyst, Energy Auditor (EA), or Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certifications. The HHE was developed in partnership with the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI). A Healthy Home Evaluator assesses home-based environmental health and safety hazards and provides a prioritized list of recommendations to address those hazards.

Learning Objectives

  • Conduct comprehensive healthy home evaluations by integrating qualitative observations with quantitative diagnostics to assess and characterize home-based environmental health and safety hazards according to industry standards.
  • Develop and communicate prioritized recommendations to address existing and potential hazards while considering occupant needs, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices.
