I currently work on delivering tailored learning experiences that help partner teams solve problems faster. In a fast paced high change environment, training needs to be accurate, modular, and adaptable. I am developing programs that leverage the collective expertise of the crowd to vet and scale content to help teams apply what they learned in their role.
I believe media literacy and the ability to tell stories across media is foundational 21st century skill. Starting with my time as Fulbright scholar, I have spent over a decade building novel methods that teach others how to tell a story using digital media. I have developed curriculum with Los Angeles County Museum of Art and helped train over 500 teachers on the basics of filmmaking at their Art + Film Institute. The central thread to all of the workshops, professional development and training is helping people tap into their creativity using the available tools for storytelling.
I have been an independent media producer and educator for over a decade. During that time I have focused my projects how digital video can be used to educate, illuminate and inspire. I have produced short films for Microsoft, author Dave Eggars, 826LA, Seattle Arts and Lectures and more. I have traveled to Haiti 7 times to work with Haitian teachers and students to produce a series of videos that document best practices in literacy development. I have worked with Microsoft to both build a curriculum and produce a series of videos that onboard people to a new digital storytelling platform. These videos were accessible from within the tool itself as well as Microsoft's official YouTube channel.
