About this course

About this Course:
It's no secret that the solar industry is quickly becoming the solar + storage industry. Don't take our word for it; according to Swinerton CEO George Hershman, “Everything in 2022 will have a storage component — the vast majority will have storage in 2021. Everything in California and the West, every contracted asset is going to have storage. We’re seeing the scale go up and cost go down — and we understand how to monetize it — it’s here to stay.”

Mayfield Renewables' solar + storage course series is designed to help system designers and engineers, as well as building officials, project managers, installers, and sales staff stay up-to-date and ahead of the curve for one of the most dynamic sectors of the PV industry.

This two-hour course, the second in our solar+storage sequence, covers National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 855 and UL9540 standards as they relate to design and installation considerations, as well as their intersection with the International Fire Code (IFC) and NFPA 1 Fire Code.

The course is self-paced and can be taken at any point within 12 months of enrollment. During that time, you will have access to the course videos and all course materials, including a copy of the presentation with easy-to-understand tables, maps, and timelines designed to be used for future reference. Not sure which Codes may apply to your project? We built the presentation to help find answers quickly and intuitively.

About Mayfield Renewables' Solar + Storage Workshop Series:

We recommend taking this course along with NEC 2017 & 2020 Solar-Plus-Storage Requirements. Both courses are offered together in the discounted  2017/2020 Electrical & Fire Codes for Energy Storage Systems Bundle.

The courses are designed to be taken as a  sequence for a more holistic approach to solar + storage learning, or taken a la carte for industry professionals with significant experience in specific subject areas. You can see both courses offered together here.

Interested in taking this course privately as a group? We also offer each course as a live workshop (in person or over Zoom) led by our founder and NEC Code Making Panel member, Ryan Mayfield. Find more information here: https://www.mayfield.energy/workshops
