LEED Green Associate

The LEED Green Associate credential equips you with fundamental sustainability knowledge to support environmentally responsible building practices.

Qualifying for the Exam

While there is no training requirement to sit for the exam, HeatSpring will be offering a LEED Green Associate Prep course in Summer 2025 to help you prepare for success.

The current LEED Green Associate exam is based on the LEED v4 rating system.

Exam Fees

The LEED Green Associate exam costs $250, but there is a reduced exam fee of $100 for students or $200 for US Green Building Council members.

Exam Details

The exam is 2 hours long and includes 100 multiple choice questions. The exam has scored and unscored questions. Unscored questions are used to gather data regarding how the question performs. This data informs the use of the question on future exams.

The LEED Green Associate exam is scored between 125 and 200. A score of 170 or higher is required to pass. Your score will be displayed on the screen at the end of your exam and a score report will be emailed to you after the exam session.

All of your exam paperwork must match your valid government-issued identification.

Registering for the Exam

  1. Create a USGBC site user account (or sign in to your existing account). Be sure that your account information matches your photo identification.

  2. Select the LEED Green Associate Exam under the credentials section and follow the instructions on the screen to register.

  3. Once you complete the registration process, you are given a unique eligibility ID (EID). You can use that to schedule your exam with Prometric. You can choose to either take your exam at a Prometric Testing Center or from home as a remote proctored online exam.
