ELECTRICAL Level 3 Apprentice (Third Year)

In a non-union electrical apprenticeship program, the training structure is similar to union programs, but the levels may vary slightly depending on the organization or employer. Generally, the program consists of four levels, progressing from beginner to advanced skills. Each level typically takes about one year to complete, with a mix of on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom instruction.

Topics - Advanced Apprentice

  • Advanced conduit bending and installation techniques.
  • Service panels, transformers, and grounding methods.
  • NEC calculations for different systems (load calculations, box fill, etc.).
  • Introduction to motor controls and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Working more independently on job sites with minimal supervision.
  • 5,000-6,000 OJT hours completed.
