ELECTRICAL Level 2 Apprentice (Second Year)

In a non-union electrical apprenticeship program, the training structure is similar to union programs, but the levels may vary slightly depending on the organization or employer. Generally, the program consists of four levels, progressing from beginner to advanced skills. Each level typically takes about one year to complete, with a mix of on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom instruction.

Topics

  • More advanced electrical theory (Ohm’s Law, voltage drop, etc.).
  • Installation of conduits (EMT, PVC, and rigid) and wiring methods.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
  • Introduction to commercial and industrial electrical systems.
  • More hands-on work under supervision, troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • 3,000-4,000 OJT hours accumulated.
