ELECTRICAL Level 1 Apprentice (First Year)

In a non-union electrical apprenticeship program, the training structure is similar to union programs, but the levels may vary slightly depending on the organization or employer. Generally, the program consists of four levels, progressing from beginner to advanced skills. Each level typically takes about one year to complete, with a mix of on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom instruction.

Topics - Beginner

  • Basic safety practices (OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification).
  • Introduction to electrical theory and National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Basic hand tools, power tools, and materials.
  • Simple wiring, circuits, and conduit bending.
  • Assisting journeyman electricians with basic tasks.
  • Typically 1,500-2,000 OJT hours completed by the end of this level.

Eligibility Requirements

Follow the guidelines from the local regulatory agency in your state to become an electrician. Some states vary by city, county, or region.
