Monitoring and Solar Thermal Adoption in the US

Solar thermal applications, including solar water heating, are a proven and effective way for homeowners and businesses to reduce their energy bills and carbon footprint. However, adoption of solar thermal technology has been hampered by the lack of a cost effective and reliable way to measure and monitor the performance of systems. This module will explore the potential for solar thermal applications in the US and the importance of monitoring to their adoption.

How Ohm Works and Is Different

The Ohm system represents a significant departure from the existing paradigm within heat metering - it eliminates the need for a flow meter and instead uses a patent-pending, in-tank sensor to directly measure the energy in the hot water tank. This module will explain the technical specifications of the system and how they are different from, and in many cases superior to, the existing approaches to solar thermal monitoring. It will also review 3rd party accuracy testing data for Ohm.

Ohm Installation Procedure and Considerations

This module will review the components of the Ohm system, their installation procedure, solar thermal system requirements and common troubleshooting items. It will also look at the Ohm dashboard and its unique analytic capabilities. Installers will learn how installation time for Ohm can reduce the standard installation time of solar thermal monitoring from 3-4 hours to 20-30 minutes.
